Open Mic Freshwater begins the semi finals this week at the Harbord Beach Hotel

First Prize $1000 and a trip to Queensland.
The finals begin this week at Open Mic Freshwater at the Harbord Beach Hotel. Yes it is an open mic night and not just a Songwriters comp. There are great prizes including $1000 cash plus a trip to Qld 1st Prize, $250.00 Cash 2nd Prize, $100.00 Cash 3rd Prize. You will be able to play covers and/or originals if you like. I will be chosing a winner from each heat and so will the crowd and their will be a third winner chosen after that by myself and the staff. There also will be weekly prizes: The three heat winners will each get a prize worth $70 which is a paid spot the following Wednesday at the Hotel ($50 cash plus a $20 Hotel voucher) for one 45 minute set for which I will provide a PA. The first two winners chosen, go thru to the semi's and the third will come back and try again on another heat. I of course will judge originals with a higher degree of difficulty but if you just play covers then thats fine too. The Basics
Solo or Duo only, no more than 2 performers per entry.
Eight Heats in total starting Thursday 11th March excluding Easter.
3 Semi Finals 13th, 20th and 27th May
Grand Final 3rd June.
There are 3 winners chosen each heat, one by Keith Armitage, one by the crowd vote and 1 wild card chosen by Keith
and the staff. These 3 winners heat winners recieve a paid gig prize of $70 to performed the following Wednesday.
The Two main winners from each heat go straight thru to the semi-finals
The Wild Card winner is entitled to come back to another heat and retry.
All events start at 8pm at the Harbord Beach Hotel, 29 Moore Rd, Freshwater 2096.
Entry Rules.
4 songs being performed in total. There will be no backing tracks or music, you must provide you own musical accompaniment, be it yourself or it can be a friend playing guitar etc. You can sing any combination or originals/or covers. Judging will be tougher on covers.
The two winners & wild card from each heat are also given a paid set gig at the Hotel the following Wednesday. Each performer will play a 45 min set, for which you will be paid $50 cash plus $20 Hotel Voucher. Keith will provide a small vocal PA for this night. This gig is compulsory to the winners progression through the competition.

Judging.
Keith Armitage will choose one winner at each heat.
The Crowd will choose one winner at each heat. (voting Coupon via purchase of Promo Drink)
Wild Card winner chosen by Keith and the Staff.
Finals will be judged by celebrity judges.
