Despite the split of folk-rock outfit Stiltzkin (her debut musical project) in mid 2003, 17 year old singer-songwriter Lana De Angelis has been far from idle, playing a succession of captivating acoustic shows in and around Sydney, as well as writing new material and re-inventing old.
Recently signed to Sydney-based Risky Records, Lana has been working with the indie labels creative brains Stephen Rae and Kris Gale, on her debut EP, anticipated for release later this year
Backed only by her acoustic guitar, and a ferocious way with words, lana's unique brand of post-modern folk has captured the hearts and minds of many. With an audience as diverse as her songs, Lana's live shows never fail to inspire and uplift, with fans from all walks of life finding a place of solace within her music.
lana's music combines traditional folk-styled guitar playing with a newer, edgier pop/rock feel, and lyrics that are honest, open minded and intensely personal.
Lana's influences lie mainly with strong, empowering female songwriters such as Tori Amos, Ani Di Franco, Jewel, PJ Harvey, Joni Mitchell and The Indigo Girls.
She has been playing guitar and writing songs just under 3 years and is a relative newcomer to the scene, but early success's predict you'll be hearing alot more from this folk singer in the future!
