Heather Frahn fuels her music with a vibrant young woman's passion and delivers with a deep, dynamic voice that is undeniably her own. Her personal ideals and experiences inspire honest music that resonates with the audience.
Frahn says her music involves “voice for the heart, groove for the body and lyrics for the soul.” She draws on the live energy of Janis Joplin, harbours the groove of blues legend Matt Corcoran and the positive soul of India Arie.
Performed solo with her baritone acoustic guitar, Irish bouzouki and stomp box, her music is best described as ‘acoustic groove' - it works with relentless rhythm to achieve a blues-tinged, mesmerising sound. Congas, djembe drum and hand percussion weave within Heather's grooves.
Her latest EP Acoustic Energy (BMM 295.2) is released through Black Market Music.
Growing up in rural South Australia, Heather embraced her passion for music at a young age and started performing in Adelaide venues at 14. Now 26, she has a fine catalogue of accomplishments.
She was announced Most Outstanding Female Vocalist and Most Outstanding Female Solo Artist at South Australian Music Industry (SAMI) Awards in November 2004. She also received a nomination for Most Outstanding World Music Act.
In 2003 she won Most Outstanding Album Artwork at the SAMI Awards with her independent album Earthen Heart. In 2000 she won Most Outstanding Female Vocalist.
“After performing for over ten years, I've come to realise just how powerful music is. Music brings us all closer to ourselves. I hope to keep music a part of people's lives and help generate truth and certainty. I am excited about my sound and new songs and look forward to sharing it with audiences,” she says.
